Core Values
Core values should describe the nature, essence, and practical application of what a local congregation is all about. Due to our purpose and vision here at New Life, we could say that our core values include many things: Bible reading, prayer, fellowship, evangelism, discipleship, Christian service, and so on. Boil down to the following three things:
1. Connecting to God.
We believe the most important thing any single individual can do is come to the Lord Jesus Christ for the purpose of receiving salvation from their sins.
We believe it is also vital that no person look at this ‘salvation experience’ as something one does and then forgets about, but rather that it becomes the initial step in a long journey where one commits the remainder of their lives to following after Jesus Christ.
We also hold to the high value of connecting with God through the regular practices of worship of God (both privately and publicly) and through regular habits of Bible Reading/study and prayer.
2. Connecting to Others.
We believe God has created man in such a way that he can only reach his fullest potential as he learns to connect with others—that we compliment each other and enhance the quality of our lives.
It is through the regular exchange of love and learning and helping that we grow and become what we are becoming.
3. Serving the World.
As we mature in our faith and in our understanding of God’s will for our lives, we will find ourselves challenged to serve others and to be a blessing just as Christ exemplified for us through his life and ministry on earth.
As such, our core values have also come to serve as the ‘discipleship process’ we’d like to see in every believer’s life. We believe that when we are actively moving through these three things, we will be experiencing discipleship and as a result will ultimately experience spiritual growth.
